I will See People As God Sees Them

This week we learned about seeing others as God sees them. God loves everyone, and we need to show everyone love regardless of what they look like, or the mistakes they have made. We looked at the story of the woman at the well, and how Jesus showed her love, and told her how she could have everlasting life.

The story: John 4:5-42

The Memory Verse: But the Lord said to Samuel, Don't judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn't see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7
(NLT)

The Secret Assignment (worth 10 Action Bucks): Think of one person that you know who looks different than you. Write down one way you can see them they way that God sees them this week. Bring that written paper with you to church next Sunday.

I Will Use My Words To Encourage Others

This week we learned about using our words to encourage others. Many times we have choices in life to use our words to hurt, or to help others. The kids were challenge to use their words to encourage others not to tear them down or hurt them. This includes parents, siblings, teachers, friends and even people who have been mean to us. How will you use your words to encourage others this week?

The Story: Daniel uses his words well. (Daniel 2:1-48)

The Memory Verse:

Don't use foul or abusive language.

Let everything you say be good and helpful,

so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.

Ephesians 4:29 (NLT)

The Secret Assignment: Read this story, then write two sentences of encouraging words you could say to the person in the story. Bring the paper on Sunday for 15 Action Bucks!

At school you see someone sitting in the corner of the playground by themselves, you walk over to ask them to play with you when you notice that they are crying. You ask them what is wrong and they tell you that

The secret word this week is: See

Highway 45 - May 9, 2010

As most of you know this Sunday is Mother's Day, to celebrate we will be learning about some of the mothers in the Bible and what they did that made them so special. To make things a little more interesting, the kids and I will be playing a Jeopardy inspired game which will test how much they know about these amazing women (and how well they were paying attention).
An important announcement for all fourth, fifth, and THIRD graders; Friday May 21 is our last 45 event of the school year and we'll be going out with a bang at Boomers! We will be saying goodbye to our fifth graders, but welcoming our upcoming fourth graders (that means you third graders). The cost is $20.00 but after May 19 the price goes up to $23.00, so the sooner you sign up the better. If you have any questions feel free to ask me or Pastor Ashley.

I will take time to listen to God!

Today we learned about listening to God. We heard the story of Peter walking on the water to Jesus, but he got distracted by the big storm and started to sink. Just like Peter, we can become distracted by other things such as TV, movies, computer, music, video games, and it can become harder to listen to God. We learned that we can listen to God by reading His Word, and praying. To help reinforce this at home, we have a secret assignment for you.

Our Bible Story this week can be found here: Matthew 14:22-32

Our Memory Verse this week is:

Those who listen to instruction will prosper;

those who trust the Lord will be joyful."

Proverbs 16:20
" (NLT)

Secret Assignment (worth 20 Action Bucks):

Spend 10 minutes listening to God by reading your bible or praying. Write down two sentences of what you learned or heard from God. Do this for three different days this week, have a parent/guardian sign it , and bring it to church this Sunday. The secret word for this week is: Obey

For example: 5/4/10 Today I read Ephesians 6:1 and God told me through His word that I need to obey my parents. God wants me to always obey my parents even when I don’t want to.
