This week in 123 Go, we talked about being thankful! God saved the Israelites from slavery and he constantly provided for their needs, yet they complained every chance they got. Do you complain when you don't get the dinner you want? How about when your friends get something you really wanted? Remember to always be thankful to God for everything He has provided for us. If you want more information on the story, read it for yourself in Exodus 15:22 - 17:7

Memory Verse (worth 5 Action Bucks):
"Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done."
Philippians 4:6 (NLT)
*If your child has already memorized this verse in another version, I will accept that as well.

Special Assignment (worth 15 Action Bucks):
Complete your Thankful Journal EACH DAY. Write down or draw what you are thankful for.
Discussion questions:
1) How often do I complain about the things I have, or don't have?
2) What are some things that I should be thankful for each day?
3) How can I remember to be thankful for all that God has given me?

Parents sign a paper that lets me know you talked about these questions AND wrote in your Thankful journal to receive your action bucks!

Secret word this week is: LOVE

This week in Highway 45 we discussed the importance of helping others and not thinking of ourselves. It is important to help others out of the goodness of our hearts and not expect anything in return. It isn't always easy helping others, sometimes we don't know how to or we just might not want to, but the bible tells us how important it truly is to help those in need. This week's memory verse is "Each of us should please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: "The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me." Romans 15:2-3 (NIV)

This week in 123 Go, we talked about problems. Everyone has them, but one of the awesome things about God is that He is more powerful than any problem we could ever have and He will help us. All we have to do is ask. We learned about how the Israelites had a problem. They got stuck between the Red Sea and they Egyptian army. Moses prayed to God, and God parted the sea for them and then drown the entire Egyptian army! Read it for yourself in Exodus 13 and 14!

Secret word this week is: Needs

This week in Highway 45 we discussed how important it is not to judge people who are different than us. Jesus hung out with "weird" people. In fact, he was always getting in trouble with the Pharisees because they thought he needed to stop hanging out with weird people and start hanging out with them. Not everyone is who they appear to be, and if you take the time to get to know someone who is weird. You just might find out you have more in common than you thought! This week's memory verse is "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-2 (NIV)

Secret word this week is: Powerful

This week in Highway 45 we talked about hate and how no one likes to be hated. Hate doesn't feel good for us, or our enemies. So we shouldn't hate them back, we should respond with love instead. I dared the kids this week to act lovingly toward their enemies. If they don't think they have an enemy, choose someone they find hard to get along with, and do loving things for them. This weeks verse is "You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you" Matthew 5:43-44 (NIV)

Secret word this week is: LOVE

This week in Highway 45 we discussed how we are all different by God's own design. Of course, sometimes we forget that and treat others poorly because they're different from us. It might be harder to accept someone who is different from us, but remember that God made each person unique for a reason. This week I challenged the kids to accept someone who is different from them, spend some time with them, and find one reason they think God made that person uniquely different. This weeks memory verse is "Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God." Romans 15:7
