What we learned, Sunday December 19th

*SPECIAL MESSAGE*
Sunday December 26 will be one family service at 10:00 am, but there will be childcare for Animal Jam children. Hope you all have a very wonderful Christmas, God bless!

This week in Animal J.a.m. our 2 year olds learned that the wise men worshiped Jesus. Our 3 & 4 year olds learned that the wise men worshiped a special baby. Please look at your take home sheets for more information
Today in Jammers we continued to learn more about Jesus. We can and should tell others about Jesus. Please look in your child's bag for more information.

This week in 123 Go we continued our Christmas lesson and we talked about how Christmas is a time to love as Jesus loves. Jesus gave so much to others, but he didn't give money or presents, he gave his time, talents, prayers, but most of all, his love. We can all learn a lesson from Jesus this Christmas by giving more from our hearts and not just our wallets.

Memory Verse (worth 5 Action Bucks):
"None of you should look out just for your own good. You should also look out for the good of others. You should think in the same way Christ Jesus does."
Philippians 2:4-5 (NIrV)

*If your child has already memorized this verse in another version, I will accept that as well.

Secret word this week is: (NO SECRET WORD)

This week in Highway 45 we acted out a little skit that told a story about the 3 wise men and how they decided on what gifts to bring the baby Jesus. They all had such a great time dressing up and really getting into their characters, and I had a blast watching them. We were all laughing, enjoying each other's company, smiling from ear to ear, and learning about Jesus...and isn't that what Christmas is all about?

Memory Verse (worth 5 Action Bucks):
"May glory be given to God in the highest heaven! And may peace be given to those he is pleased with on earth!" Luke 2:14 (NIrV)

*If your child has already memorized this verse in another version, I will accept that as well.

Memory Verse (worth 5 Action Bucks):
"The virgin is going to have a baby. She will give birth to a son. And he will be called Immanuel." -- The name Immanuel means "God with us." Matthew 1:23 (NIrV)

*If your child has already memorized this verse in another version, I will accept that as well.

Secret word this week is: CELEBRATION

This week in Highway 45 we continued with our Advent Conspiracy lesson, and our main focus this week was sacrifice. The kids were split up into teams and had to work together learning along the way that they wont always be able to get what they want, and that sometimes they need to sacrifice things to better themselves and others. This week's memory verse is crucial and I want all the kids to have it memorized by next week. "Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased." Hebrews 13:15-16 (NIV)

Memory Verse (worth 5 Action Bucks):

*If your child has already memorized this verse in another version, I will accept that as well.

Secret word this week is: GIFT

This week in Highway 45 we started our Advent Conspiracy lesson. This week we discussed worship and how important it is not just around Christmas time, but throughout the year. Every where we turn Christmas music is playing on the radio, at the mall, in elevators; and we tend to tune it all out and ignore what the songs are really about. We should all stop and take the time to listen to songs like "What Child is This?" and "Hark, the Herald Angels Sing". Even if we think we have heard them a hundred times, it may take that hundred and one time to actually discover what these songs actually mean and what they should mean to us as believers in Christ.

Today in Jammers we continued to learn more about God. We learned that God made the four seasons! Please look in your child's bag for more information.

This week in 123 Go, we talked about faithfulness. Faithfulness is doing what we say we will do. By doing things for people without being asked, or without backing out, it shows that we care for others and for God.

Memory Verse (worth 5 Action Bucks):
"I have chosen to be faithful; I have determined to live by your regulations." Psalm 119:30 (NLT)

*If your child has already memorized this verse in another version, I will accept that as well.

Secret word this week is: BIRTH

This week in Highway 45 we learned more about baptism and how important it is. Many of the kids had heard the word baptism or baptized before, but didn't know what it truly meant to us as Christians. Instead of just explaining it to them, I took all the kids into the main Worship Center to see their fellow church goers be baptized. I think it really helped each and everyone of them to really grasp the importance of baptisms, I just pray that one day they will all want to be baptized and be a loyal follower of Christ always. This weeks memory verse is "Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." Acts 2:38

Memory Verse (worth 5 Action Bucks):

“The Lord approves of those who are good, but he condemns those who plan wickedness." Proverbs 12:2
(NLT)

*If your child has already memorized this verse in another version, I will accept that as well.

Secret word this week is: No secret word this week see you at the park!

This week in Highway 45 we discussed that being popular and saying yes to things we know are wrong is not as great as it may seem. Most people want to have lots of friends and be popular but sometimes that can come at a price, like making fun of someone just because they are different. We learned from Samson and Delilah that giving up something (or someone) you love in exchange for money, popularity, or power is wrong. God gave each of us a special gift, that makes each one of us unique in some way, so why would we want to spend so much time blending into the crowd? This week's memory verse I left up to the kids, since each one of them is special and unique, I wanted them each to pick out a verse that meant something to them individually.

What we learned, Sunday October 31st

This week in Animal J.a.m. our 2 year olds learned about God making them and the things around them our 3&4 year olds learned about God making the earth. Please look at your take home sheets for more information
Today in Jammers we continued to learn more about Jesus. We learned the Jesus takes care of us! Please look in your child's bag for more information.

This week in 123 Go, we talked about being a light for Jesus. When we accept Christ in our lives, we need to live for Him in every part of our life. This way people can see that we are living differently, and we can set a good example showing them who Christ is.

Memory Verse (worth 5 Action Bucks):
"In the same way, let your light shine in front of others. Then they will see the good things you do. And they will praise your Father who is in heaven."
Matthew 5:16 (NIrV)

*If your child has already memorized this verse in another version, I will accept that as well.

Secret word this week is: GOODNESS

This week in Highway 45 we had fun learning about the Lord while carving a pumpkin. I discussed the Pumpkin Parable with the kids and we all said the pumpkin prayer together,
"Lord, open my mind so I can learn new things about you. Remove the things in my life that don’t please you. Forgive the wrong things I do and help me to forgive others. Open my eyes to see the beauty you’ve made in the world around me. I’m sorry for the times I’ve turned my nose at the good food you provide. Let everything I say please You. Lord, help me show your light to others through the things I do. Amen" We had a lot of fun together celebrating and learning that Halloween isn't just about candy and costumes.

What we learned, Sunday October 24th

This week in Animal J.a.m. our 2 year olds learned about God making them and the things around them our 3&4 year olds learned about God making the earth. Please look at your take home sheets for more information
Today in Jammers we continued to learn more about Jesus. We learned the Jesus takes care of us! Please look in your child's bag for more information.

This week in 123 Go, we talked about how God wants the best for our lives. We need to obey Him even when it doesn't make sense. We heard the story of Joshua and the battle of Jericho from Joshua chapter 6. Walking around a city may have seemed silly to some of the people, but they obeyed God, and He had plans for them to enter the promise land.

Memory Verse (worth 5 Action Bucks):
"'For I know the plans I have for you,' says the LORD. ' They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.'"
Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT)
*If your child has already memorized this verse in another version, I will accept that as well.

Secret word this week is: LIGHT

This week in Highway 45 we discussed the importance of saying no when you know something isn't right, even if you are the only one. It isn't easy to just say no when friends or family are trying to convince us to do something we don't want to do, or don't want to be the only person not taking part. As we read in Daniel 6 about Daniel and the lions den, Daniel never stopped praying and doing what he knew was right even though it could lead to his demise. But God protected Daniel and saved him for believing and trusting that God would be there for him because he did what was right. So I dared the kids that the next time someone is pressuring them to do something they don't want because they know it is wrong, they should give it to God and trust that he will help them through it. This week's memory verse is "To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul; in you I trust, O my God. Do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me." Psalm 25:1-2 NIV

This week in 123 Go, we talked about how important we are to the church. Each person has special gifts and talents that we can use to serve others in the church. In God's eyes we are all equal and we all need to participate and be at church to make it work the best way it can. We heard the story of God having the Israelites build a tabernacle. They all worked together and used gifts God had given them. You can read more about this story in Exodus 25-26.

Memory Verse (worth 5 Action Bucks):
God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. 1 Peter 4:10
*If your child has already memorized this verse in another version, I will accept that as well.

Secret word this week is: PROMISE

This week in Highway 45 we discussed the importance of trusting God, even when bad things happen to us. All of us at some point in time have had something really bad happen to them; but that does not mean that God is punishing us or that he doesn't love us, God has a plan for everything he does. Even though it maybe be difficult to understand what His plan is, we just need to give everything to Him and trust Him fully. This week's memory verse is "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding." Proverbs 3:5

And don't forget this Friday October 15th from 6:00-9:00 is our Highway 45 Pumpkin Painting event. Just bring a small pumpkin to paint and we'll provide the food and fun, see you then!

This week in 123 Go, we talked about Loving God and Loving others! God gave us the 10 commandments to help us love God and love others better. The first 4 commandments help us show love to God, and the second 6 help us show love to others. You can read the story of God giving the Moses the 10 commandments in Exodus 19:1 - 20:21.

Memory Verse (worth 15 Action Bucks):
“Jesus replied, ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” Matthew 22:37-39 (NLT)
*If your child has already memorized this verse in another version, I will accept that as well.

Secret word this week is: CHURCH

This week in Highway 45 we discussed how Jesus is with us everywhere, no matter where we go or what we do. My dare for the kids this week is: Every time they change location, and I do mean every time-- when they leave their bedroom for breakfast or leave their house for school or leave school for soccer practice-- whenever and wherever we go, remember that God is with us, and thank him for always being with us. This week's memory verse is "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)

This week in 123 Go, we talked about being thankful! God saved the Israelites from slavery and he constantly provided for their needs, yet they complained every chance they got. Do you complain when you don't get the dinner you want? How about when your friends get something you really wanted? Remember to always be thankful to God for everything He has provided for us. If you want more information on the story, read it for yourself in Exodus 15:22 - 17:7

Memory Verse (worth 5 Action Bucks):
"Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done."
Philippians 4:6 (NLT)

3) How can I remember to be thankful for all that God has given me?

Parents sign a paper that lets me know you talked about these questions AND wrote in your Thankful journal to receive your action bucks!

Secret word this week is: LOVE

This week in Highway 45 we discussed the importance of helping others and not thinking of ourselves. It is important to help others out of the goodness of our hearts and not expect anything in return. It isn't always easy helping others, sometimes we don't know how to or we just might not want to, but the bible tells us how important it truly is to help those in need. This week's memory verse is "Each of us should please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: "The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me." Romans 15:2-3 (NIV)
