What we learned Sunday, August 22nd

This week in Animal J.a.m. we are learning more about God. In our two year old classroom we learned how God is strong. God helps His people today, just like He helped Moses and the Israelites. In our 3 and 4 year old classroom we about Jonah, the story can be found in Jonah 1:1-3 and on your take home page.
Today in Jammers we learned about giving cheerfully. For activities and more information about the story, please refer to your take home page in your child's bag.

This week in 123 Go, we learned to choose good friends. When Paul was here, and serving others, he always had good friends who helped him with his ministry. We need to choose our friends based on character and not if they are "cool" or not. It is important for us to be a good friend to everyone, even if they aren't a good friend to us.

Memory Verse (worth 5 Action Bucks):

"For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes..." Romans 1:16a
(NLT)

*If your child has already memorized this verse in another version, I will accept that as well.

Special Assignment (worth 10 Action Bucks):
This week: Answer the following questions on a piece of paper and bring it to me (Pastor Ashley) on Sunday.
1) What does it mean to be on God's Team?
2) How can I show others that I am proud to be on God's Team?

Secret word this week is: TELL OTHERS

This week in Highway 45 we discussed the importance of asking for forgiveness and forgiving those even when they don't ask to be forgiven. Sometimes we just aren't aware that we've hurt someone or we don't think we need forgiveness or maybe we are just too afraid to ask for it. But this week I have dared the kids that the next time someone hurts them and doesn't ask for forgiveness, they should treat them with kindness and forgive them anyway. That's what God does. It all goes back to that old familiar saying, treat others the way you would want to be treated. This weeks memory verse is “For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.” Matthew 6:14

*If your child has already memorized this verse in another version, I will accept that as well.

Special Assignment (worth 10 Action Bucks):
This week: A second bonus memory verse!
"A friend loves at all times. He is there to help when trouble comes"
Proverbs 17:17 (NIrV)

Secret word this week is: PROUD

This week in Highway 45 we discussed the importance of giving people not once, not twice, but infinite times. Even though many people have wronged us, wither it's a friend or a relative, we should always forgive them just like God has forgiven us. It isn't always an easy task to forgive someone who has hurt us multiple times but Jesus asks us to make a sacrifice that's small in comparison to the huge sacrifice he made for us.

This week's memory verse is:
"Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you." Colossians 3:13

Also don't forget about our movie night this Friday from 6-9 pm. We will be watching Monster's Inc. and enjoying some fun games together.

What we learned August 8th

This week in Animal J.a.m. we are learning more about God. In our two year old classroom we learned how God is strong. God helps His people today, just like He helped Moses and the Israelites. This week in 123 Go, we learned to always give credit to God! We learned about Paul and Barnabas when they healed a crippled man many people thought he was a god. They told them that it is only because God had given them the power that they were able to heal the crippled man. You can read more about this story in Acts 14:8-18. We also talked about how we can do nothing with out God, and how we need to remember to give Him the credit for the things we do.

Memory Verse (worth 5 Action Bucks):

"What do you have that God hasn't given you? And if everything you have is from God, why boast as though it were not a gift?" 1 Corinthians 4:7b (NLT)

*If your child has already memorized this verse in another version, I will accept that as well.

Special Assignment (worth 10 Action Bucks):
This week: Make a list of 10 things that God has given to you that you can give Him credit for. Bring that list next Sunday!

Secret word this week is: FRIENDS

This week in Highway 45 we discussed the importance of sharing about God and that he is our friend. I want the kids to tell their friends about their friendship with God and just how great it is! If they aren't sure how to start, have them revert back to their SHARE story we did in class. The SHARE story will help them better explain how God has changed their life forever!

This week's memory verse is "But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect" 1 Peter 3:15

What we learned on August 1st

This week in Animal J.a.m. we are learning more about God. In our two year old classroom we learned how God is strong. God helps His people today, just like He helped Moses and the Israelites. In our 3 and 4 year old classroom we about Jonah, the story can be found in Jonah 1:1-3 and on your take home page.
Today in Jammers we learned about Obeying God through the story of Jonah. For activities and more information about the story, please refer to your take home page in your child's bag.

This week in 123 Go, we learned to put others first! We learned about Paul and Silas in jail, and how they chose to help the prison guard instead of freeing themselves. We also talked about how there are many needs in this world, and how we should put the needs of others above ourselves.

Memory Verse (worth 5 Action Bucks):

If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important.” Galatians 6:3 (NLT)

*If your child has already memorized this verse in another version, I will accept that as well.

Special Assignment (worth 10 Action Bucks):
This week: Find a way to put the needs of others above your own. Write down what you did, have your parent sign it, and bring it to church next Sunday!
Example: This week I let my brother choose the games we played and what movie we watched.

This week in Highway 45 we discussed that sometimes in our relationship with God, we feel like He is far away. We might get mad and complain, but we don't "walk out" on God. We are Christians no matter how far away God may feel, and he wants us to get closer to Him. Don't give up on God -- continue to seek Him in all that you do! And remember the promise that God will never, ever, no matter what, abandon you in your search for Him! This week's memory verse is
"Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you." Psalm 9:10

What we learned Sunday, July 25th

This week in Animal J.a.m. we are learning more about God. In our two year old classroom we learned how God is strong. God helps His people today, just like He helped Moses and the Israelites. Today in Jammers we learned about Obeying God. For activities and more information about the story, please refer to your take home page in your child's bag.

This week in 123 Go, we learned to have a good attitude no matter what! We learned about Paul and Silas in jail, and how they chose to have good attitudes even though bad things had happened to them. We can have a good attitude no matter what because God loves us!

Memory Verse (worth 5 Action Bucks):

"Dear brothers and sisters, when trouble comes your way,

consider it an opportunity for great joy."

James 1:2(NLT)

*If your child has already memorized this verse in another version, I will accept that as well.

Special Assignment (worth 10 Action Bucks):
This week choose to have a good attitude, even when something doesn't go your way. Write down what didn't go your way, and how you had a good attitude. Have your parent sign it!
Example: This week, I lost a game to my friend, but I chose to congratulate my friend instead of being upset that I lost.

Secret word (worth 5 Action Bucks): Pride

This week in Highway 45 we talked about the importance of conforming to the image of Christ and letting out our inner "Jesus freak". Kids today are so afraid to be different and worry way too much what others think about them; but if they were to spend less time worrying and more time behaving like Christ, they will be far better off and so will the people around them. This week's memory verse is "But don't just listen to God's word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves." James 1:22 NLT

Memory Verse (worth 15 Action Bucks):
"Then Peter came to him and asked, 'Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?' 'No, not seven times,' Jesus replied, ‘but seventy times seven’” Matthew 18:21-22 (NLT)
