Highway 45- March 7, 2010

This week in Highway 45 we will be focusing on the last few books of the New Testament, wrapping up our lesson of learning about and memorizing the Old and New Testament. We are starting this weeks lesson with Philippians and continuing through to the Book of Revelation. During our lesson we discuss important and influential verses to know and remember. So parents if you could share some of your favorite verses with your kids and let them share theirs with you, I think it will give them more confidence to share with me and their friends/piers in class.

And don't forget next Friday the 12th, we will be having a Pirate Party for ALL fourth and fifth graders. It is from 6:00-9:00 and only $2! So get your little buccaneers in the pirate mood and be ready to find some awesome treasures. Of course friends are always welcome to join us!

Highway 45- Nov. 8, 2009

This Sunday the kids and I will be talking about the Historical books of the Old Testament, starting with Joshua and finishing up with Esther. Last week we learned about Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy, parents if you could practice these with your kids and make sure they have them memorized it will make it much easier for us to go on to the next set of books.

It is time again for one of our awesomely fun Highway 45 events, next Saturday November 14, we will be having a Picnic in the Park over at the Civic Center Park in Palm Desert from 11:00-2:00. The best part about this event is that its FREE! The kids just need to bring a sack lunch and be ready to have a great time playing some fun outdoor games with friends. Let me know Sunday if you have any questions.

Highway 45- Nov. 1, 2009

I have noticed more and more that a lot of the kids don't know the books of the Bible in order. So over the next few weeks we are going to learn a little bit about each book, splitting up the books in sections, while helping the kids memorize the books as they go along. This will be a fun and very useful lesson for the kids, and I love knowing that I'll be teaching them something they will use for the rest of their lives.

February 5th - 7th is Winter Camp for our fourth and fifth graders, it is $115.00 a student, and a $50.00 deposit is needed ASAP. Now I know February may seem like a long way away, but it will sneak up on us sooner than we'd like to think.

Highway 45

First off, I would like to give a big thanks to all the parents and kids that took part in our Pumpkin Painting event last Saturday. We had a great turn out and an even better time! Above is a picture of some of the amazing pumpkins the kids did. Thanks again!

This Sunday, October 25, will be a little bit different than most considering its the weekend before Halloween. Some of the kids might not understand why going to an event at church on Halloween night is not only safer but can be just as much fun, if not more fun, than Trick-or-Treating. So we will be acting out a short skit called, "A Harvest Carol", which is a Halloween spin of the beloved "Christmas Carol". The skit will explain the importance of going to an event like Octoberblast, instead of Trick-or-Treating, and encouraging the kids to get their friends to do the same. The skit will also provide them with fun facts about the early history of Halloween and how we should be celebrating the Harvest God has given us throughout the year.

Highway 45

This Sunday October 18, the kids and I will be reading 1 Corinthians chapters 2 and 3. We'll be discussing the importance of putting Jesus before anything and everything in our lives.

But before we dive into Corinthians on Sunday, we have an exciting event going on this Saturday the 17 from 3:00-5:00 in the Highway 45 room. The kids and I will have a great time painting pumpkins and I think some of the kids are even planning to put some of that paint on me. There is no charge for this event, just have the kids bring a small/medium size pumpkin(s), a friend, and to be ready for some fun!

And one more thing parents...last week we read Ecclesiastes, if you could remind your kids to have just one verse memorized from Ecclesiastes 3:2-8 that would be a big help for me.
