What we learned on August 1st

This week in Animal J.a.m. we are learning more about God. In our two year old classroom we learned how God is strong. God helps His people today, just like He helped Moses and the Israelites. In our 3 and 4 year old classroom we about Jonah, the story can be found in Jonah 1:1-3 and on your take home page.
Today in Jammers we learned about Obeying God through the story of Jonah. For activities and more information about the story, please refer to your take home page in your child's bag.

This week in 123 Go, we learned to put others first! We learned about Paul and Silas in jail, and how they chose to help the prison guard instead of freeing themselves. We also talked about how there are many needs in this world, and how we should put the needs of others above ourselves.

Memory Verse (worth 5 Action Bucks):

If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important.” Galatians 6:3 (NLT)

*If your child has already memorized this verse in another version, I will accept that as well.

Special Assignment (worth 10 Action Bucks):
This week: Find a way to put the needs of others above your own. Write down what you did, have your parent sign it, and bring it to church next Sunday!
Example: This week I let my brother choose the games we played and what movie we watched.

This week in Highway 45 we discussed that sometimes in our relationship with God, we feel like He is far away. We might get mad and complain, but we don't "walk out" on God. We are Christians no matter how far away God may feel, and he wants us to get closer to Him. Don't give up on God -- continue to seek Him in all that you do! And remember the promise that God will never, ever, no matter what, abandon you in your search for Him! This week's memory verse is
"Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you." Psalm 9:10
